Scientific pet names

This is maybe not the most original cartoon in my life, but at least it is sweet and related a little bit to science. And well, such names are not surprising when coming from a scientific spinster and animal right activist...

Celebrating the birthday of a sexist boss

Today is the 1st birthday of my blog (and baby :-))), in fact the blog can be considered as a second, 'intellectual' offspring of mine... Thanks for all comments, pageviews and all. To celebrate the birthday I decided to include a cartoon about birthday celebrations in the lab. To come back to my initial topic, it is about a sexist boss, and what makes him the happiest in the world... And let's laugh about it, but it is sad that it is completely true (and please do not forget that it is true).

Safety signs for scientific spinsters

I did not want to be mean, and I hate generalizations (so this is only a mean and exaggerated comic strip), but the years I have spent in science and the months I have spent with my baby at home have clearly shown me that this type of 'scientific spinster' really exists. (But of course not all single women scientists are 'spinsters' or like this, and I hope they won't feel concerned.) My bad experience started with a diploma supervisor who was openly jealous about my hair when I first entered the lab and told me immediately that when she was young she had the same nice hair... (I quit her lab very quickly...) Then I have experienced that a spinster colleague cut all communication with me after my baby's born. So, I decided that such people deserve this cartoon...

Baby names for historians (antiquity)

I would like to wish a very Happy New Year 2012 to all readers of the blog... Until now the blog has been focused on natural sciences, but this time I decided to continue this series with some human science... Let's start with the Antiquity, and I promise I'll continue this endless list if I get the feedback that it is appreciated.
